Social Media Use in the US: Platform and Demographic Trends

According to a recent report, YouTube is the most used social media platform by Americans. The Pew Research Center conducted a survey of US adults in 2023, revealing that 83% have used YouTube, followed by Facebook (68%) and Instagram (47%).

TikTok has experienced the most growth among major platforms, with a 12% increase in usage since 2021. US adults under 30 are more likely to use Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, while those aged 30-49 are more likely to use LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

The report also found demographic differences in platform use, such as women being more likely to use Instagram and Hispanic adults being particularly active on TikTok. Americans with higher education levels are also more likely to use LinkedIn.
