The Positives and Negatives of Working From Home

People working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic have said it is easier to balance work and personal life, but they feel less connected to their coworkers. According to the Pew Research Center, 64% of employed adults who rarely or never worked from home before the pandemic say it is easier to balance their work and personal life. Additionally, 60% said it has made them feel less connected to their coworkers.

Among employed adults who are allowed to work from home but rarely or never do, 61% said a major reason is because they prefer working from their office and 60% said it is because they are more productive at their office. The Pew Research Center's report was based on a survey of 10,237 US adults aged 18 and over in January 2022.

Among employed adults whose offices are open but who are continuing to work from home, 76% said it is because they prefer to work from home and 42% said it is because of concerns about being exposed to the coronavirus.
