10 Simple Tips and Tropes for Writing Engaging Social Media Copy

For over a decade, social media has been an essential part of a marketer's media mix. A new research shows that 91% of B2B content marketers in North America are using social media for organic content distribution, and 95% of them are using LinkedIn, 86% using Twitter, and 84% using Facebook. Companies are also building employee advocacy programs to expand their reach and authenticity.

To write engaging social media copy, there are two main principles: provide value and strike the right balance. This includes using phrases, memes, and quotes to grab attention, and summarizing key takeaways and insights. Additionally, use a call to action, ask a question, or tell a personal story to engage the reader. Combining these tropes also works to express a benefit to the followers.

No matter which tactics you choose, your goal is to provide value to the people on the other side of the screen. Refining your tone and understanding what type of description copy is most engaging to your audience or network can take time, but is worth the effort.
