According to research from The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR), nearly three-quarters of B2B exhibition organizers have had to cancel at least one in-person event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The report was based on data from a survey conducted in June 2020, which showed an increase in cancellations compared to a similar survey in April.
The reasons for cancelling events included uncertainty over state/local orders and corporate "no travel" policies. To adapt to the situation, 81% of organizers are now providing one or more virtual offerings, and 65% have moved education sessions online.
The report was based on data from a survey conducted in June 2020 among 169 executives with oversight over US B2B exhibitions.
