Edelman recently released a study on the impact of thought leadership and found that fully 64% of survey participants based a company's trustworthiness and competencies on its thought leadership messaging. To build influence, companies must empower their people to become thought leaders.

One way to do this is by giving actual employees bylines on the company's blog. This helps readers create an emotional connection to the post and the company, especially for B2B brands. Companies must also nurture the process of thought leadership and be consistent with it, even when other priorities arise. Additionally, companies should tailor their thought leadership messaging to a specific audience and identify their thought leaders' unique points of view.

Finally, companies should give others the megaphone to talk about their thought leaders and apply for speaking gigs and relevant industry awards. This can help build third-party credibility and expand the thought leader's influence. With the right strategies, companies can empower their people to become thought leaders and gain influence.
