This poses a threat to their security and reputation, as domain names can be hijacked or used to collect user data without consent.

Creating a policy for domain name registrations and performing an annual audit are key to avoiding these issues. Companies should also ensure that domains are locked with the highest level of protection available and use DMARC, SSL, and Domain Name System Security Extensions for maximum security.

Employees should be familiar with the policy and use software to manage domain portfolios to cut down on compliance time. Regularly checking for errors and HTTP statuses, such as 200 "OK" and 301 "Moved Permanently", can help maintain domain name security.
