Marketers say AI proficiency is the top skillset they plan to prioritize when hiring for their email marketing teams this year, according to recent research.

According to research from Litmus, 43% of marketers plan to maintain their current spend level on email marketing in 2022 and 37% plan to increase their spend level. Additionally, 32% of marketers plan to increase their budget for email team personnel and 36% plan to invest more in integrating email with other channels.
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on email strategy, with 62% of marketers saying it changed their strategy a little bit and 22% saying it changed it significantly. As a result, 70% of marketers reported an increase in email workload, and 61% reported an increase in email volume.
The research was based on data from a survey of nearly 400 marketing professionals around the world. The findings suggest an increased focus on email marketing and team personnel in 2022, likely due to the impact of COVID-19.
