How Much Harder Has Email Marketing Become?

The 10-year anniversary of the first edition of Email Marketing Rules was celebrated last month by releasing a greatly expanded fourth edition. It contains 53% more rules and a 143% bigger glossary, and is three times longer. The fourth edition discusses changes that have happened in the past decade, such as CASL, GDPR, and CCPA, as well as dark mode and AI. Adapting to these changes is difficult, but necessary in order to be successful in email marketing.

AI and machine-learning, omnichannel orchestration, and customer data platforms are some of the changes that will help marketers achieve the goal of sending the right message to the right person at the right time. Although it won't be easy, it will be a rewarding challenge that can help marketers advance their careers. More resources are available to help marketers adjust to the changing landscape of email marketing.

Email marketing has become more complex over the past decade, and will likely continue to evolve in the future. To stay ahead of the competition, marketers must embrace the changes and adapt their strategies accordingly.
