Data Draws the Big Picture: Why and How to Use Data Visualization

In today's marketing landscape, data collection and effective use is essential. Between 2010 and 2020, the amount of data used by marketers increased exponentially. To make the most of the data businesses collect, effective data visualization is key. Humans are visual learners and making sure the data is accurate is essential. Planning, validating the data and keeping an open mind is important. With the right data and visualization tools, marketers can create eye-catching visuals to communicate their insights.

Testing the hypothesis against the data and considering the data objectively leads to the most actionable insights. Simple graphs such as bar charts, line charts, and pie charts are effective. Color and brief descriptions help to make the visualizations easier to understand. After creating the graphics, it is important to take note of trends, anomalies and potential stall points for future campaigns.

Data visualization can be a major asset in conveying information both internally and externally. Taking the time to plan, validate, and execute data visualization provides the most valuable and actionable insights. There are many resources available to help marketers create effective visuals.
