If your company is like many others, you've likely had your share of annual marketing planning meetings. UpCity recently surveyed 600 small businesses across the United States and Canada to gain more insight on their marketing strategies for 2022. Two-thirds of businesses surveyed said they believe their current digital marketing strategies are effective, while the remaining one-third is less confident. Challenges such as ever-changing algorithms and the pandemic have made it difficult to accurately measure success.

Lead generation is a key issue, with 59% of marketers saying they don’t have the data needed to feel confident in their campaigns. Four tactics to consider include organic search, SEO, content writing, and artificial intelligence (AI). Organic search provides high-quality leads, while SEO helps to drive organic traffic. Content writing should focus on educating and helping your target audience, while AI can automate tasks and support marketers.

Defining marketing success can be subjective, so it’s important to understand your business goals and focus on the right tactics. Although success won’t happen overnight, trust in best-practices and make measured adjustments along the way for the positive outcomes you’re looking for.
