Five Tips for Effective Communication With Distributed Teams

Flexible work was my normal long before the pandemic. In fact, the bulk of my career in the video collaboration industry has been hybrid. My first experience with working from home was in 2007, and I had to be proactive and persistent to have a seat at the table. Today, itís about choosing the right video collaboration device and hardware with high-performance audio.

To enhance communication, I would visit the office in person when new teammates or customers came on board and organize super-short check-ins to informally exchange ideas. I also paid attention to time zones and body language when communicating remotely. Finally, I would take an extra 30 seconds to sign off the old-fashioned way.

Remote and hybrid work communication requires effort, but with the right tools and etiquette, it is possible. Investing in innovative video collaboration devices that prioritize human connection is key. At the end of the day, the fundamental principles of management remain the same, regardless of physical location.
