The Use of Unapproved AI Tools by Employees

Recent research from Cyber News shows that most employees use unapproved AI tools for work, but their managers are aware and support it.

The report, based on a survey of 1,003 US adults employed in August 2025, also reveals that executives and senior managers are the most likely to use unapproved AI tools.

Despite awareness of potential risks, 75% of respondents using unapproved AI tools admit to sharing sensitive information, such as employee and customer data.
